Named after the beloved Eleutherodactylus coquí — a tiny frog with a mighty voice, native to Puerto Rico.
“¡De aquí como el coquí!” – I’m from here, like the coquí.
The sun begins to set over a warm Puerto Rican evening. The air smells like home: spiced clove, bursts of citrus, and the comfort of slow-simmered cinnamon. A soft breeze carries the first call of the coquí, that sweet, rhythmic “ko-kee” echoing through the trees like a lullaby only the island knows.
There’s music in the air, maybe a cousin’s laugh or the sizzle of something cooking. This is a scent stitched from memory—both festive and grounded, familiar and rich with pride.
